Campus Police

The University of Connecticut Police Department is a fully functional police agency with the same statutory authority as any municipal police department in the State of Connecticut. Specifically Connecticut Statute Sec. 10a-142. (Formerly Sec. 10-144c). Special police forces. (a) There are established special police forces for The University of Connecticut at Storrs and its several campuses… The members of each special police force shall have the same duties, responsibilities and authority under sections 7-281, 14-8, 54-1f and 54-33a and title 53a as members of a duly organized local police department.

State and internationally accredited, the department is responsible for the protection of lives and property at the University of Connecticut and all adjacent areas within the jurisdiction of the UConn Police Department.

UConn Campus Police patrol the campus on foot and in marked police vehicles. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

UConn-Stamford staff, faculty AND students are asked to be proactive members of our community and report anything unusual.

To Contact Campus Police:

  • To report an emergency, dial “911” from any telephone in the academic building
  • Contact can be made by picking up any of the emergency phones located in public hallways and classrooms throughout the building.
  • The telephone number for campus police is (860) 486-4801
  • There is an Emergency Blue Light Phone in Whitey Heist Park next to Franklin Street, that rings directly to the Police Office.

Location of Police Office: The Stamford Campus Police Substation is located in room 1.42 in the main building.
