Background:
Michael Mulcahy received his Ph.D. in Sociology
from the University of Arizona in 2004. His dissertation
research explores the emergence and effects of a
global labor regime in the 20th century. He is currently
also doing research on inequality, social movements,
and policy change at the municipal level. He received
his B.A. in English Literature from the University
of California, Berkeley, and holds M.A. degrees
in Philosophy (Ruhr University, Bochum, in the Federal
Republic of Germany) and Sociology (University of
Arizona).
Expertise:
His major research interests include political
sociology, political economy, social movements (labor
and the labor movement in particular), globalization,
stratification, and organizations. He uses a variety
of methodological approaches, including statistical
analyses, network analysis, and comparative historical
methods. He joined the University of Connecticut
- Stamford Campus in August, 2004.
