Biography:
Walter Dolde is Associate Professor
of Finance at UConn-Stamford. His specialty
is global financial management and capital markets.
His paper “Hedging,
Leverage, and Primitive Risk” won the 1995 Financial Management
Association National Award for Best Paper in Business
Finance.
Dr. Dolde founded and directs
the UConn Financial Managers Group with financial
officers from more than 20 Fortune 300 firms. He
frequently leads executive education/corporate
training seminars on financial modeling, forecasting
cash flows and financial statements, finance for
nonfinancial executives/managers, statistical forecasting
in Excel, fixed income markets, derivatives, and
other topics. He has qualified as an expert on
finance and economics, including valuation at both
the federal and state levels.
Other areas of expertise include entrepreneurial
finance, financial institutions management, investor
relations, information diffusion in real estate
prices, and economic and financial valuation.
Dr. Dolde’s publications appear in the Journal
of Finance, American Economic Review, Real Estate
Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal
of Marketing Research, and many other
refereed journals.
Previously Dr. Dolde worked with
Alan Greenspan
on the executive troika of Townsend-Greenspan
and Company. He was also a Vice President
at Lehman Brothers and at Citibank
Investment Bank. He appeared frequently
on CNN, FNN, and CBS-TV while on Wall Street.
Dr. Dolde has held faculty appointments
at Carnegie-Mellon University, Columbia University,
and Yale University. He has lectured in Germany
at the University of Mannheim and the University
of Potsdam. He earned a PhD in Economics from Yale
University and an AB summa cum laude et cum honoribus
in Mathematics-Economics from Brown University.
