Degrees:

Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and English (New York University)

M.A. in English (Bar Ilan University, Israel)

B.A. in Hebrew and English (Hebrew University, Jerusalem).

Publications:

Author of three books, among them the award-winning Eve’s Journey: Feminine Images in Hebraic Literary Tradition, as well as numerous book chapters and essays in the fields of biblical influences on Western literature, Hebraic literary tradition, the Bible as literature, women in the Bible and Judaic literature, and Israeli and Middle Eastern politics, culture, and literature. Recent publication: Guest-edited a dedicated volume of the AJS Review (28:1), the Journal of the national and international Association of professors of Jewish Studies, titled The Bible’s Presence in Modern Hebrew Literature and Culture, to which she contributed a methodological Introduction and an essay.

Scholarly Interests and current research program:

Currently working on a Reader for a newly-developed course titled “Religion and Literature” as well as on a book titled The Eden of Childhood: Myth and Counter-Myth in Modern Literature.

Activities:

Scholar-in-residence and guest speaker in numerous universities in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Israel. Public lecturer and TV political commentator. As Director of the Center: teaches and organizes seminars, lecture series, and conferences in all areas of Israel and Middle Eastern politics and culture, Religion and Society, and in Jewish history, literature and thought.
